I took my bike to the bike doctor yesterday because after the wreck it's not been shifting cleanly and not shifting at all into my highest gear (which I do use frequently). He fixed it and then told me my bike was dirty....so, I washed it today! And myself in the process....
I have a folding bike that I keep inside when I'm not riding it, but during the winter, just from commuting, there's so much crud accumulating on my components that I find myself either hosing it off or wiping it down at least once/week. Keeps it running a lot more smoothly though.
ReplyDeleteIdeally I wouldn't be using my mountain biker as a commuter, but that's what I have and I'd rather be mountain biking so I keep that bike instead of exchanging it for another. I've used a folding bike and they're quite nifty, especially is tight quarters. Because it was raining I just decided to go for a 5 mile out and bike and figured it would be clean when I got back. And I agree; if you want your bike to last longer then keep it clean!
